Vacu Vin Launches Wine Saver Made with Recycled Materials

With as much as 98% Post-Consumer Recycled ABS, Vacu Vin is responding to the growing demand for sustainable products among consumers. Through its “Loop” project, the company aims to improve sustainability throughout the entire value chain, from packaging to production, resulting in a product that not only extends the shelf life of wine but also minimizes environmental impact.

Local Partners

As part of its commitment to operating as sustainably as possible, Vacu Vin involved several local partners in the project. The injection molding partner for this initiative is Smit Plastic, based in Tiel, the Netherlands. Smit Plastic has been a trusted manufacturing partner of Vacu Vin for many years, producing a variety of plastic components for the company.

Korrels BV was selected as the supplier of the PCR raw materials because ECOmpounds® was able to provide a base material with one of the highest PCR contents available in light-colored compounds. In addition, Korrels BV supplied the material in the custom colors Jade, Sand, Graphite, and Terra, meeting Vacu Vin’s specific design requirements.

Through close collaboration between all partners in the supply chain, the entire circular project was successfully completed within the agreed timeline, from the initial concept phase through to retail launch.

Vacu Vin is already looking ahead to the next step: a similar sustainability-focused project for its popular wine coolers, using the same high-quality PCR-based materials.
